An exhibit exploring the landscape, the wildlife, and the people of Wyoming through books by women.

How did women represent the developing West - and their own lives there - in writing?

Foxtail Books is delighted to collaborate with Jackson Hole Historical Society & Museum and artist Katy Ann Fox to tell the story of four women’s lives, of the Wyoming landscape, and of early 20th-century publishing in writing and art.

Featuring original oil paintings by Fox paired with excerpts from books by Grace Gallatin Seton-Thompson, Elinore Pruitt Stewart, Katharine Newlin Burt, and Sally Carrighar. In addition to introducing visitors to the words of writers they may not be familiar with, this exhibit provides context and asks questions about books and publishing in the West — past, present, and future.
