Curated Libraries for Home

We connect people with books.

Drawing on years of experience, relationships, and knowledge of the book industry, we curate and manage collections old and new. We work with collectors, designers, and those who love books to create libraries that inspire and that stir curiosity. Christy and her team bring a designer’s eye to the classic traditions of librarian and bookseller. We meld artistry and symmetry to form timeless, sophisticated collections. The books on your shelves say who you are.  Speak to aesthetic taste, intellect and interests. Let us help you tell your best story through your collection.

Let’s talk about how we can transform your current library or build the collection of your dreams.

Meet Christy Smirl

Since receiving her Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science, founder Christy Shannon Smirl has worked in academic, private, and public libraries.  This profession draws on order, systems, and knowledge -- all things that resonate with any librarian. Yet Christy found that one cannot be surrounded by books without also measuring pattern, color, and voice from each shelf.  The weightiest of tomes become art pieces when placed in a certain context. She founded Foxtail Books & Library Services in 2016, and has been working with book lovers around the world ever since.

  • Master of Library and Information Science with honors, University of Denver, 2006

  • Member, Rocky Mountain Antiquarian Booksellers Association

  • Graduate, Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar, 2019

  • Board of Directors - Jackson Hole Historical Society & Museum

  • Consulting librarian - National Museum of Wildlife Art

“Meeting Christy was a life-saver when I needed my life long collection of 1,200 cookbooks organized and displayed. Her professional advice and expertise during the project helped create an accessible and aesthetically beautiful presentation of my collection. After thoughtful organization, cataloging, and a few replacements, my cookbook collection became a manageable and integral part of my daily life. I am forever grateful for the direction and guidance provided by Foxtail Books.”

— JACQUELINE GOLDSTEIN, JACKSON HOLE, WYOMING

“We are absolutely delighted with how our library turned out! We wanted to fill out our collection with a variety of books on specific topics, from different periods - and we had no idea how to find them all. We know books, and we are organized people, but we had no idea how to organize our books in a proper library. Christy made the entire process very easy. She listened carefully to what we were trying to achieve, prepared a very organized approach for our consideration, and then put it all together. The whole process was easy for us, and resulted in a library that our family loves. ”

— PETE REGAN, JACKSON HOLE, WYOMING

“We love the library! The book selections are wonderful and the placement is beautiful. We’ve already spent almost more time there over the weekend than in the past decade because it’s now so inviting.”

— JACKSON HOLE CLIENT

“The library was the most efficient, straightforward part of the design, installation, and remodel work on our home. ”

— NEW YORK CITY CLIENT

“We absolutely loved partnering with Foxtail Books to re-imagine our Designer Library. Christy took a decade’s worth of books, auction catalogs and magazines, and transformed them into accessible resource for our Design Team. Her presentation was exceptional and made our library a true reflection of the WRJ aesthetic.”

— LILY LANAHAN, WRJ DESIGN

“Working with Christy was an absolute delight. Starting the project we didn’t know who would be able to help us and she made everything seamless. The level of professionalism, execution, and support were second to none. Thank you for a wonderful job, well done!”

— ABDULRAHMAN TOTONJI, WASHINGTON, DC

“Christy’s love of books matched with her creative taste transformed my bookshelf from a wall of randomness to a work of art.”

— LEAH CHASE, WILSON, WYOMING

“Christy curated a home library for us that is both eclectic and distinguished. There are classics I’ve always wanted to read interspersed with new, intriguing titles that suit our reading tastes.

But beyond the titles, her sense of style gave my library the look and feel I’ve always wanted - an inviting, stimulating space in my home that I can escape to.”

— KENNETH HADDEN, JACKSON HOLE, WYOMING
