Jackson Hole Dream Library

I recently had the pleasure of building a foundational collection for a beautiful, dedicated library space for a family in Jackson Hole.  These clients are book people, readers whose books are mostly at their homes in other locations, but they bought this house partly because of its incredible library space looking out at the Tetons.  I curated a collection suited to their love of science and the natural world, as well as the beginnings of a collection on local and regional history, natural history and culture.  High shelves up their library ladder have a foundation of classic literature (ancient to contemporary, international to western) to build upon.  Fiction and nonfiction include titles to help preteens and teenagers develop a lifelong love of reading.  The collection is topped off with simple, modern bookends and some incredible rare volumes that provide a look at the history of scientific discovery.  A Chambers Encyclopaedia from the 1860s sits amidst contemporary volumes, a compendium of knowledge in its time that now shows how far we have come but also perhaps how far we have to go.

Update: read more about this project in the summer 2018 edition of Homestead Magazine.

We are absolutely delighted with how our library turned out! We wanted to fill out our collection with a variety of books on specific topics, from different periods - and we had no idea how to find them all. We know books, and we are organized people, but we had no idea how to organize our books in a proper library.

Christy made the entire process very easy. She listened carefully to what we were trying to achieve, prepared a very organized approach for our consideration, and then put it all together. The whole process was easy for us, and resulted in a library that our family loves.
